WERDCC Release and Transfer Paths

A woman leaving WERDCC may enter the community on parole, begin conditional release, complete the maximum sentence and discharge, or transfer to another institution or authority. Parole is a discretionary release ordered by the Missouri Parole Board. Conditional release places the final statutory part of a sentence in the community. Both can leave the person under MODOC legal supervision. Full discharge means the active departmental relationship has ended.

A transfer is not release to the community. Neither is movement from the Audrain County Jail into WERDCC after sentencing. The county app loses relevance when state custody starts. An assigned MODOC institution points to incarceration, while a community supervision assignment can support a physical prison release with continuing legal supervision.

Confirm a WERDCC Release

The MODOC active Offender Search is the public starting point. It includes active prisoners, parolees, and probationers, but expressly says it does not provide information on discharged offenders. A missing result does not prove release from WERDCC. It may reflect a misspelling, a confidential omission, full discharge, or no MODOC history.

1. Search the person’s first and last name, including known aliases, and use the DOC number when available.
2. Match date of birth, cause number, sentencing county, and other official identifiers. Do not rely on a same-name result.
3. Read the assigned place to distinguish an institution from a community supervision location.
4. Contact the institutional caseworker or assigned Probation and Parole office for the precise current status or date.
5. If the person is fully discharged, use the nightly MODOC Sunshine file and request the release or discharge event when exact proof is required.

Missouri custody notifications can add event awareness, but the DOC and court records remain documentary proof. The Audrain County released-inmate search helps determine when a county-jail trail should give way to the state-prison trail.

WERDCC Release Records Contact

The facility can route an institutional status question, while MODOC owns the state offender and discharge records. Ask narrowly for the DOC number, commitment, release event and type, date, release order, supervision start or end, and Board action relevant to the named person. A Board-specific Sunshine request may be directed to the Parole Board, while offender records use the department’s Sunshine channel.

The institutional parole office handles release planning. After a person leaves for community supervision, the applicable field office becomes the better source for current supervision. District assignment depends on the approved plan, not merely on the fact that WERDCC sits in Audrain County. MODOC’s historical data can supply identifiers before a focused request. `$PC` is the Sentence-I Minimum Release Date, `$PD` is the Sentence Maximum Release Date, and `$SCF=Y` identifies a completed sentence in that dataset. Multiple charge rows can appear for one person, so reconcile them before citing a date.

The nightly file covers current and formerly supervised people and contains data reaching back as early as 1974. MODOC warns that it is working data that can contain converted or self-reported information and may not be complete. Match the DOC number, date of birth, cause number, offense, sentence, and sentencing county, then ask for the event record if the historical row alone does not resolve the status.

WERDCC State Prison Profile

WERDCC is operated by the Missouri Department of Corrections. MODOC lists minimum, medium, maximum, and diagnostic security levels. It is not an annex of the Audrain County Jail, and its residents are sentenced state prisoners or people going through state reception and diagnostic functions.

The current warden is April Daniel. A facility contact can help route an authorized question, but a public web row may not reveal every date or protected case detail. MODOC also warns that safety, security, and confidentiality concerns can exclude some records from the active search.

WERDCC History and Release Context

WERDCC opened in 1998 as a replacement for the flood-damaged Renz Correctional Center. That history explains why a statewide reception and diagnostic prison is located near Vandalia, but it says nothing about an individual release. Facility history should never substitute for the assigned-place and release-event records.

In February 2025, MODOC opened its Prison Nursery Program at WERDCC. The official review describes eligible residents with due dates within 18 months of release as possible participants, subject to program requirements. An eligibility window is not a scheduled release record, a promise of parole, or proof that someone left the prison.

The same rule applies to a parole hearing or presumptive date. A hearing allows Board review. A presumptive date may still be conditioned, delayed, rescinded, or extended. Confirm the final event through MODOC and the assigned office.

WERDCC Release Planning Services

MODOC states that each prison has a reentry center that addresses identification, transportation, medical care, treatment, clothing, food, and other transition needs. Those services support planning before release. They do not turn a projected date into a guaranteed departure or make the center a public status office.

A person leaving WERDCC on parole or conditional release normally goes to an approved community plan and supervision district. The field office can confirm whether active supervision continues and which office is assigned. A person who reaches full discharge instead moves out of the active offender search and into historical records.

WERDCC Versus Audrain Jail Releases

Audrain County’s two correctional facilities require mirror-image search paths. The Sheriff’s county jail in Mexico uses a current MobilePatrol roster, local MOVANS reporting, a Sheriff release-record request, and Case.net. WERDCC uses MODOC during prison custody and community supervision, then historical Sunshine data after full discharge.

A county detainee transferred to WERDCC has not been released to the community. A woman paroled from WERDCC has left the prison but still remains under MODOC supervision. Someone fully discharged from MODOC may no longer appear in the active search at all. Keeping those outcomes separate prevents the most common local search error.

Women’s Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center should also not be treated as a county release destination for every local case. The receiving institution and assigned place shown in MODOC control. The Audrain Sheriff’s record can document the county transfer, while MODOC documents the state phase.

Sentence dates also need precise labels. Parole eligibility marks when the Board may consider release. A presumptive parole date is a future Board date subject to change. Conditional or minimum release follows the statutory sentence structure, while maximum release marks full term. None is automatically the physical day the person walked out of WERDCC.

Transportation After WERDCC Release

Audrain County has a scheduled transportation resource through OATS, but it is not an on-demand prison shuttle. Mexico service runs Tuesday through Friday during stated daytime hours, and reservations are required. OATS does not promise a WERDCC gate stop or immediate pickup. A person or approved contact must confirm route, eligibility, pickup, advance payment, and timing directly.

The scheduled service may help with a planned trip, but release staff and OATS must confirm whether it fits the approved plan.

Transportation arrangements are separate from custody confirmation. A ride reservation does not prove that the Board, court, or MODOC authorized release. Likewise, a missed ride does not establish that the release was canceled. Use the agency record for status and the transit provider for travel details.
